1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you use Ask Knox:

  • Account information: Email address (via magic link) or Discord profile (via OAuth)
  • Usage data: Queries submitted to Ask Knox AI, lesson progress, quiz results, and achievements
  • Technical data: IP address (for rate limiting), browser type, and device information
  • Payment data: Processed by Stripe — we do not store credit card numbers

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide and improve the Service
  • Track learning progress and award achievements
  • Enforce rate limits and prevent abuse
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions
  • Send transactional emails (magic links, subscription confirmations)

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising.

3. Data Storage

Your data is stored in Supabase (hosted on AWS). Authentication tokens are stored in secure, httpOnly cookies. Learning progress is stored locally in your browser (localStorage) and optionally synced to the server when signed in.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Supabase: Authentication and database
  • Stripe: Payment processing
  • OpenAI: Text embeddings for AI search
  • Anthropic (Claude): AI answer synthesis
  • Vercel: Hosting and analytics
  • Discord: OAuth authentication (optional)

Each service has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.

5. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication (Supabase session tokens). We use Vercel Analytics for anonymous usage metrics. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Export your learning progress data
  • Opt out of optional data collection

7. Data Retention

We retain your data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., fraud prevention).

8. Children

Ask Knox is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have, please contact us and we will delete the data.

9. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
